Nose Surgery

NOSE SURGERY

The shape of the nose, the foremost organ of the face, is the key factor for the overall beauty and character of the face. A subtle deformity in the nose can easily be noticed. Even a small alteration in the shape of the nose can improve the whole appearance of the face.

Nose surgery (rhinoplasty) is designed to increase the harmony between the face and the nose by changing the structure of the bones and cartilages, and by reshaping the tip of the nose. One or all of these changes can be performed in a single operation. Rhinoplasty also helps to eliminate respiratory problems. What should be aimed for is not only an ideal nose, but also a nose that is in harmony with the other features of the face.

The skin type, racial characteristics and age should be taken into account when planning nose surgery. Before rhinoplasty, the existence of any functional problems like difficulty in breathing should be checked. Additional procedures such as chin fillers can be planned for a better facial appearance.

Rhinoplasty techniques

Rhinoplasty operations can be performed either by open or by closed techniques. Both methods have their own advantages. Generally, for minimal changes in the nose, the closed technique is preferred. If there will be radical changes, then the open method is a better way.

Open Rhinoplasty

Deformities in the nasal septum that cause breathing problems can easily be managed by the open rhinoplasty method. An incision is made in the area between the nostrils. Even if you have open surgery, there will be no visible scars on your face. There may be partial swelling, but this is not because the surgery is open, but because radical changes have occurred in your nose.

Closed Rhinoplasty

In the closed rhinoplasty technique, no external intervention is performed. All changes are made by entering through the nostrils. After closed rhinoplasty, there is absolutely no scar on the face.

What is ultrasonic rhinoplasty?

Nowadays, motor systems are preferably used for breaking the nasal bones instead of   hammers and cutters. This new technique is called “Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty”. The cutting and shaping of the nasal bones are carried out by a set of very thin pen-like tools under direct observation, without damaging the soft tissues. As a result, the nose looks more elegant and natural. Almost all patients are suitable candidates for ultrasonic rhinoplasty.

TIP PLASTY

When deformity is only to the tip of the nose and its cartilages, the type of operation performed is called ‘Tip Plasty’.  Tip plasty is an appropriate procedure for those who do not have a problem with the nasal bone but are only bothered by the width or drooping of the nasal tip.
