Unexplained infertility
Unexplained infertility is a diagnosis in which the reason for inability to conceive cannot be determined despite the current diagnostic tests. Using these criteria, about 10% of all infertile couples have unexplained infertility.
If the expectant mother is young and her ovarian reserve is normal, lifestyle changes are recommended as away of treatment. In this process, the couple should stay away from stress, follow a healthy diet, exercise regularly and stop any substance use. They are advised to try to conceive naturally by regular, unprotected sexual intercourse for a year. If pregnancy does not occur during this period, ovulation induction, along with intrauterine insemination can be offered for 3 consecutive months. If pregnancy cannot be achieved with these methods, in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment may be considered.
If the expectant mother is older than 35 years or the egg reserve is diminished, IVF treatment can be applied without delay.
